“What size are Splish n Splash classes?

“We run small class sizes to give each parent and baby space in the pool, and also enables the teacher to spend more time with you, to give you personal advice and support. Classes will normally be no more than 8 parents and babies or children. Children’s classes start with a maximum of 5 children in a class for stages 1 and 2 so each child gets more attention from the teacher who is in the water with them. For adults the class size is a maximum of 3 so more focus can be given to address individual barriers and concerns.

“What experience and qualifications do you hold?”

All teachers hold ASA or STA qualifications and an Enhanced CRB check. ASA Adult and Child qualification is held by teachers taking the Duckling classes and ongoing training is encouraged for all teachers. All instructors are also fully insured

Can we join classes mid term?

Although courses are developmental, so it is advisable to join at the start of a term, if there are spaces then you would be able to join. As we have small groups the instructor will be able to bring you and your child up to speed quickly.

Top 5 things for parent and babies who are going swimming.

  1. Know about the pool you are going to, so you are prepared (where to go, facilities for changing, storing equipment)
  2. Be ready – aqua nappy, costume, warm towel, drink and snack for afterwards, toy(s) for the pool and afterwards
  3. Repetition – your baby will pick up skills by doing them again and again. . .
  4. Re-enforce everything with praise, smiles and hugs. Enthusiasm is infectious.
  5. Get your baby warm as quickly as possible after the swim. They will feel the cold more than you.
